Dispelling Myths About Vaping

With vaping growing in popularity with each passing day, it’s only natural for a variety of myths to circulate. As someone interested in vaping, it’s important to separate facts from myths.

While there are hundreds of myths about vaping, these five are among the most common...

MYTH 1: Vaping is Illegal

With vaping regulations on the upswing, there’s a lot of misinformation in regards to what is and isn’t legal.

Vaping is 100 percent legal, however, there are some states that have regulations in regards to where you can do this. For example, 46 states regulate indoor vaping, with the only exceptions being: Tennessee, Rhode Island, Nevada, and Nebraska.

MYTH 2: Vaping is Worse than Smoking

Although there are many studies taking place regarding the safety of vaping, it’s becoming clearer that it’s not worse for your health than smoking.

Due to the fact that there is no burning, you aren’t breathing in the same chemicals as you do with smoking. Furthermore, outside of nicotine, e-liquids contain many of the same ingredients you use in other common products.

MYTH 3: Second-hand Vape is the same as Second-hand Smoke

Second-hand smoke has the potential to cause a variety of health related concerns, so it’s only natural to believe that second-hand vape would have the same impact.

However, since vaporizers don’t burn, they don’t release nearly as many chemicals into the air as cigarettes. Even though second-hand vape can carry a small amount of nicotine, it’s not nearly as much as second-hand smoke.

MYTH 4: The Industry has No Regulations

In the early days of vaping, it’s true that the federal government did not regulate vaporizers. However, as the industry has grown, more regulation has been put into place.

Vaporizers and vape shops are held to a high standard of testing to ensure safety, which gives consumers peace of mind.

MYTH 5: Vaping Leads to Smoking

When comparing smoking vs. vaping, it’s easy to draw the conclusion that vaping will eventually lead to smoking cigarettes. While this could happen, it’s important to remember why vaporizers were invented in the first place: to help people quit smoking.

It’s more likely that someone who smokes traditional cigarettes will move toward vaping, as opposed to the other way around.
